Corbin Bosch's Memorable IPL Debut
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 27: Corbin Bosch, an all-rounder for the Mumbai Indians, made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during a match against the Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
During the post-match presentation, Bosch expressed his excitement, stating, “I received the news early this morning, and I couldn't be happier. It's a particularly special day for me as it coincides with my brother's birthday... what a memorable occasion to start my IPL journey. This Mumbai Indians team has been incredible, and I have truly enjoyed every moment so far.”
He admitted to feeling nervous before stepping onto the field but found his rhythm after making his first hit. “I was extremely anxious throughout, but once I connected with the ball, my nerves calmed down. I have dedicated a lot of time to improving my bowling back in South Africa. I’m ready to bat wherever the team needs me and contribute as much as possible. The crowd has been amazing, and I’m thrilled we could make this day special for them. It’s a wonderful initiative by the Mumbai Indians,” he added.
In a standout performance, Mumbai Indians' Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets, while Trent Boult claimed three, leading MI to a commanding 55-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants.
On his debut, Bosch scored a crucial 20 runs off 10 balls. He has played 86 T20 matches, taking 59 wickets and achieving a top score of 81 runs.
Corbin was part of the South African U-19 team that won the World Cup in 2014, where he was named player of the match in the final for his impressive bowling figures of 4/15.
He has consistently performed across formats for his domestic team and made his debut for the South African national team in 2024. Earlier this year, he played a significant role in MI Cape Town's championship-winning season in SA20, taking 11 wickets during the campaign.
